Assassin's Creed Shadows confirms same-sex romance options

Assassin’s Creed Shadows will let characters of the same sex have romances, and I'm sure people will be completely normal about it.

Oddly one of the most controversial Assassin’s Creed games of the past few years, Assassin’s Creed Shadows has kicked up quite the fuss in regards to its historical accuracy.

Some fans have even launched a petition to force Ubisoft to cancel the game, citing the main reason being the inaccurate portrayal of Yasuke, a real-life black samurai.

Obviously Ubisoft isn’t going to cancel a game just because people aren’t happy about historical accuracy, and it’s weird to think they even would when the Assassin’s Creed games have been known for twisting history every now and then.

Moving on though, It’s now been said that Assassin’s Creed Shadows will allow players to romance NPCs, and some of them will even allow you to create same-sex relationships.

Romances first appeared in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and returned in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, allowing the player to have a romp in the hay with several characters, usually after completing some of their quests.

Your character’s preferences could be straight, gay or bisexual depending on your own preference, though it seems like Assassin’s Creed Shadows is going to function a little differently when it comes to romance.

For one thing not all NPCs will be playersexual. This is a term for when a character will let you romance them regardless of the player character’s sex, a bit like how Judy in Cyberpunk 2077 will only let you romance them if your character is female.

In Assassin’s Creed Shadows some romance options will be specific to Naue or Yasuke, though there will be some crossover with characters that are down to get busy with both.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows will also allow the player to form platonic relationships as well, for those who might not be looking for anything intimate.

We’ll likely learn more as the game gets closer to launch, which will be on 15 November for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5 and PC.
