Assassin's Creed 3 fans stunned by 4K graphics overhaul

Assassin's Creed 3 fans stunned by 4K graphics overhaul

Remake this game!

Assassin’s Creed III isn’t a game you see pop up often when discussing the best Assassin’s Creed games.

It tends to be Ezio’s adventures that get the top spots, and then of course Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag which is my personal favourite.

God knows where Assassin’s Creed Shadows will rank on everyone’s list

Assassin’s Creed III though might as well be called underrated, as it boasted some impressive game mechanics to make it stand out from other Assassin’s Creed titles, but almost none of them were carried through into future games.

It’s in dire need of a remake at some point, and this video by GAMER JP on YouTube proves it.

The video features a heavily-modded version of Assassin's Creed III that’s running in 4K with raytracing switched on, and while you’d need a decent PC to enjoy these effects the Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 could probably replicate them too, especially the upcoming PS5 Pro.

The game’s protagonist Connor Kenway is shown walking through the fields and streets, getting into scrapes and parkouring across the rooftops like any good assassin, but with far more fluid movement and obviously greater graphical fidelity.

If you’re wondering how to replicate these results in your own game there are plenty of mods out there to do so, and guides that’ll show you where to look and what mods to install.

Assassin’s Creed III is a feast for the eyes when it’s given a little boost, and it’s a shame it doesn’t get the love it deserves from fans.

As for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, we’ve seen the gameplay looks the part in terms of visuals and open-world design, but many have criticised the movement and combat for being clunky and probably quite glitchy, hence the delay.

The release date has been pushed back to sometime in 2025, though it’s unknown when exactly Ubisoft plans to drop it.
