Age Of Mythology is coming back! With a “Retold” version boasting an improved game engine, remastered graphics and other bonus features.
For those who aren’t aware, Age Of Mythology is a real-time strategy (RTS) game where players are given control over a multitude of famous gods, from Greek, Egyptian and Norse culture. These massive armies then go head-to-head to control territory and the masses, complete with plenty of mythological creatures to bolster your forces.

Age Of Mythology: Retold brings the game back to modern platforms with a fresh coat of paint and plenty of improvements to the overall gameplay thanks to a new engine. The game is set to be released simultaneously for Xbox and PC via Steam, and it’ll also launch as a day one release for Xbox Game Pass, great news for those unsure if they’d like an RTS game.

It’s unknown if a PlayStation release is on the cards, though with Xbox’s recent pivot to third-party gaming with Hi-Fi Rush, Sea Of Thieves, Pentiment and Grounded release on Sony consoles, it’s entirely possible Age Of Mythology could follow suit in the future.
Speaking about the upcoming release, art director Melinda Rose said: "In Age of Mythology Retold, we're not only upgrading the engine and bringing all of those quality of life improvements that you've come to expect from World's Edge, but in addition to that we're doing even more to update the art … That means all new 3D models, all new animations, textures, UI, VFX, the whole shebang."
Rose went on to say "Our goal is to not only pay homage to the past but to breathe new life into this game and maximize the mythology.”
Age Of Mythology: Retold will launch on Xbox and PC later this year, though an exact release date hasn’t been shared at the time of writing.
