All gamers get to the point in our lives where we’re just totally done with every game we own and put down our controllers in favour of another pursuit. Usually, that pursuit lasts about 15-20 minutes before we’re itching to get back online and pwn some noobs or whatever it is the kids are doing these days.
Then, there’s the question of price. With the cost of living on the rise, gaming simply cannot command as much of our disposable income as it used to, which is why we’re always on the lookout for new games to hold our attention, as well as a solid deal that’ll keep our bank balances happy. Well, we’re in luck, because this week, some of us will be able to do both. Ark: Survival Evolved is free on Steam right this minute.
Check out the bizarre trailer for Ark 2 here, starring Vin Diesel riding a T-Rex. Yes, really.
As reported by PC Gamer, all you’ve got to do is log into your Steam account any time between now and Sunday 19th June, at 10am PT (that’s 6pm BST for all us UK folks), download ARK: Survival Evolved and voila. You now have one of the most loved, most enduring multiplayer games of the last decade or so for free. Something for you and your buds to sink your teeth into. The game has been made free to celebrate the announcement that ARK 2 will be coming as soon as 2023.

In case you’re unfamiliar with the original game, the blurb reads “Stranded on the shores of a mysterious island, you must learn to survive. Use your cunning to kill or tame the primeval creatures roaming the land, and encounter other players to survive, dominate... and escape!”
During the Xbox and Bethesda Showcase 2022 held just yesterday, we were reminded that ARK 2 is a thing, and that it still stars Vin Diesel. The game will arrive day one on Game Pass, so now is the perfect time to hop into its predecessor and see what all the fuss is about.
