In case you’d forgotten about it amongst all the recent Witcher drama, a brand new Witcher TV series is releasing next month. The Witcher: Blood Origin is a prequel, set over 1000 years before the main Netflix show, and according to the streaming giant, follows the tale of “seven outcasts in the elven world unite in a blood quest against an unstoppable power”.
The series will consist of four episodes, all releasing on Christmas Day this year, which will give many fans something to binge watch after their roast. A new trailer was released yesterday, and it seems that everyone has had the same reaction.
Take a look at the new trailer for The Witcher: Blood Origin right here.
And that reaction…is nothing to do with this specific miniseries at all. Since it’s a prequel set so far in the past, these episodes don’t actually star Geralt at all, but fans are using the comments section to express their disappointment that Henry Cavill is being replaced by Liam Hemsworth in season four of the main show.

“Nothing is the same without Cavill,” YouTube user La Pulga commented. “Without Henry I’m not going to invest more time into the franchise,” I like cats wrote. “GIVE US BACK HENRY!!!!! WE WANT HENRY AS GERALT!!!!” wrote Mr.Minister110.
Last week, a poll revealed that a whopping 81.9% of fans won’t continue watching The Witcher once Cavill leaves, so it’s no wonder that this response is being seen so frequently online. What’s more, the fan-made petition to keep Cavill and fire the show’s writers just keeps on gaining signatures - it’s now surpassed 200,000, which is wild.
According to a recent report, Hemsworth was one of the original frontrunners for the role of Geralt, so he apparently almost in the main role all along. Even so, it's very difficult to imagine the show without Cavill.
