It's unwise to toy with the hearts of Silent Hill fans but here's some uplifting news that scooched into 2022 with only one day left of the year. A new entry in the survival horror series that emerged from the woodwork in September and now it's been rated in Taiwan for PlayStation 5.
Ratings tend to be a reliable insinuation that the game exists in some shape or form - remember we learned that the Grand Theft Auto Trilogy: The Definitive Edition wasn't just a rumour from its rating in South Korea? Granted that set of games wasn't received warmly from its fans but my point still stands. Gematsu, with its eagle eyes that never tire, brought this rating to the attention of the public last night and it seems to say that Silent Hill: The Short Message is on its way to PS5.
Here's the trailer for Silent Hill f, set in a rural remote area of Japan in the 1960s:
A couple of months ago, the Game Rating and Administration Committee of Korea originally let the cat of the bag with The Short Message with a rating and a confirmation of the game's publisher. UNIANA often publishes games in Korea on behalf of Konami, so here's hoping that the game does hop over to other territories too.

It is a head-scratcher, though. In the Silent Hill Transmission stream in October, this game wasn't revealed in Konami's roster of new Silent Hill entries. We saw the Silent Hill 2 remake from Bloober Team, Silent Hill Townfall from No Code, Silent Hill Ascension from GENVID and of course Silent Hill f from Neobards. Unfortunately, some fans haven't been too pleased that Bloober Team is involved, and Silent Hill f has been stated to be the ninth mainline title in the series and will take the games in a new direction. So what is The Short Message and when will we hear more about it? The answers to those two questions will only arrive from Konami itself.
