A new Harry Potter RPG is barrelling towards us, and it could end up being an even bigger hit than Hogwarts Legacy.
Fans of Harry Potter have been pretty spoiled so far this year. For one thing, they got the RPG of their dreams in Hogwarts Legacy, an open-world RPG that continues to surprise and delight. But that's not the only wizarding world video game coming in 2023.
Harry Potter: Magic Awakened is a free-to-play mobile game that offers players the chance to play as a young witch or wizard starting at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, setting up a premise not unlike Hogwarts Legacy. However, Magic Awakened takes place in a modern-day setting, and features plenty of familiar faces from the books and films.

The game promises character customisation, plenty of skills that can be cast in the form of battle cards during duels, and even online multiplayer. You'll also be able to explore Hogwarts, Diagon Alley, play Quidditch, and plenty of other fun stuff.
Magic Awakened lands in the UK this summer, but those that have spent the last year or so enjoying the soft launch seem to have nothing but good things to say about it. If it sticks the landing and nails its full worldwide launch, then it could well end up being a much bigger game than Hogwarts Legacy. I mean, just think about how many more people play mobile games compared to console. Harry Potter + mobile gaming = lots of money, I'm sure.
But while Magic Awakened could be nothing more than a microtransaction-stuffed cash grab, early reviews certainly suggest this is not the case. A lot can change during launch, however, so we'll have to wait and see exactly what this adventure has in store for us when it releases in just a few weeks.
