There’s been a lot of talk lately about the fate of the Call of Duty franchise on PlayStation. Since the announcement of Microsoft’s plans to buy out Activision, Sony has been understandably concerned about the potential of CoD becoming an Xbox exclusive. Obviously, it’s a very iconic series, but Sony went as far to deem it as “an essential game: a blockbuster, an AAA-type game that has no rival”, adding that it’s “so popular that it influences users’ choice of console”.
However, Xbox boss Phil Spencer very recently confirmed that not only will the series remain on PlayStation, but he’d also “love to see it on the Switch”. Now wouldn’t that be something? The company’s plan is to “treat CoD like Minecraft”, so it seems that Sony never had anything to worry about.

Just to solidify this happy family group hug, it seems that the physical Xbox release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II in Canada has unintentionally given a shoutout to the PlayStation version. As reported by PlayStation LifeStyle (and tweeted by @CharlieIntel), the back of the Xbox game, which reads “the best-selling franchise on Xbox” in English, was somehow translated to “the best-selling franchise on PlayStation” in French.
As much as it’d be hilarious to think that throwing “Xbox” through Google Translate could result in the word becoming “PlayStation”, it’s obviously just a typo. How that one fell through the cracks without anyone noticing until just now is pretty baffling, though.

There’s a very good chance that future prints of the game will have amended this error, as PlayStation Lifestyle points out, so if you happen to own a physical Canadian launch copy of the game, keep it safe - they probably won’t stay on the shelves for too long.
