One leaker has just revealed that a Minecraft sequel is currently in development - although it might not be for the Minecraft title you expected.
Thank you in advance to Insider Gaming's Sam Sepiol for the original source!
According to the extremely prolific leaker X0XLEAK, a sequel to Mojang Studios and Double Eleven’s 2020 dungeon crawler Minecraft Dungeons is currently in development, titled “Project Spicewood”.

Another account by the name of @VISLOWERKEBAB, who appears to be related to X0XLEAK, also shared some images of the upcoming title, including a promo image and what appears to be an in-game screenshot.
Over in a thread on the r/GamingLeaksAndRumours subreddit discussing the leak, fans were surprisingly (to me, at least) actually pretty excited to hear about a follow-up to Minecraft Dungeons.
“Sounds good to me, I’ll happily play it,” commented user gjamesaustin.
“Dungeons was enjoyable enough that I didn’t feel my time nor money was wasted even though it wasn’t a standout in the genre. Improve on some core features and the sequel will do well.”

“I definitely won't complain about an expanded sequel to Dungeons. I actually really liked this game,” replied user dragon-mom.
Beyond what X0XLEAK revealed in their leak, we don’t actually know much else about the upcoming project. It is probably safe to assume that Mojang Studios will be involved in the development process, however.
Obviously no release date either, but I think we’ll hear some news regarding that soon - given that it’s been in development for two years already.
