Nintendo Switch Online is a wonderful thing as accessing games of yesteryear is becoming increasingly easy. Gone are the days of sitting there thinking, ‘I wish I could play GoldenEye 007 again’ because now, you can.
That’s not true of every game and console. I’m still waiting for The Simpsons: Hit & Run to make a comeback, although the creator is interested in working on a remake, but I digress. Nintendo are placing huge emphasis on making their back catalogue accessible right now thanks to Nintendo Switch Online which allows subscribers to play Game Boy, Game Boy Advance, NES and SNES titles. It’s rumoured that classic Pokémon games could be on their way to the service which would be huge. Today though, it’s been announced that one of the Game Boy Advance’s best games is joining NSO, Metroid Fusion.
Take a look at the new NSO announcement trailer for Metroid Fusion below.
That’s right. Metroid Fusion is making a comeback and you don’t have long to wait if you want to get your hands on this gem. The classic will be joining NSO next week. This is perfect timing, and I’m sure that’s not a coincidence, as Nintendo have just released Metroid Prime Remastered.

Our very own Ewan rated Metroid Prime Remastered a perfect score of 10, writing, “Metroid Prime Remastered is the Nintendo Switch game I’ve been waiting for since the console launched back in 2017, and the surprise release has somehow only managed to exceed every expectation I had for it. This is the perfect version of one of the few truly perfect video games.” I can hear his footsteps fading into the distance as he runs to dive into Metroid Fusion. Safe virtual travels, my friend.
Metroid Fusion was released on the Game Boy Advance back in 2002. The game sees X Parasites infect Samus Aran’s suit prompting the creation of a Metroid vaccine. It’s this vaccine that results in the Fusion suit putting the ‘Fusion’ in Metroid Fusion. It’s also worth pointing out that the original game could be connected to Metroid Prime. Seeing as Metroid Prime Remastered was just released .. you see what I’m getting at. This could be rather exciting.
