It seems that a big announcement related to Konami’s Metal Gear Solid series is on the way, or at least that’s what some fans believe.
The Metal Gear Solid series from Konami is one of the most famous and popular franchises in the video game industry, truly in the upper echelon of the stealth/action genre. What started out as humble beginnings from legendary developer Hideo Kojima with the Metal Gear entries in the late 80s on the NES, the series hit new heights with the release of Metal Gear Solid for the original PlayStation in 1998.

The games that followed would not disappoint fans (mostly), especially when it came to Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater both for the PlayStation 2 in 2001 and 2004, respectively. The latter of which, Metal Gear Solid 3 is getting a full remake powered by Unreal Engine 5.

The latter games that followed, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots (2008), the PSP spin-off Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker (2010) and Metal Gear Solid V: Phantom Pain (2015) would continue the trend of being amongst the best games of the series. Then we had Metal Gear: Survive in 2018, but the less said about that abomination, the better.
Recently, Konami released a collection of the early classics with Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol.1 which included all the games from 1987 to 2004 along with a whole host of other bonus features. Having a title such as the 'Master Collection would imply that the games included in the bundle would be high-end remasters. Sadly, that was not the case and many fans were left feeling disappointed by the quality of the Metal Gear Solid ports. Thankfully at least, each of the games in the bundle holds up well to this day, not that it excuses any of the apparent laziness when it comes to the quality of the ports.
Regardless, fans are still hyped for the expected arrival of Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol.2 which was recently teased by the one and only, true voice of Big Boss and Solid Snake, David Hayter. Konami hasn't confirmed what games will be included in Vol.2 - after all, it hasn't been officially announced yet. That being said, recent rumours have indicated that at least one game in that collection will be Metal Gear Solid 4, a game that has only ever been available on PlayStation 3.
Well, David Hayer has been at it again teasing his fans, however, unlike the previous tease which was courtesy of an official Konami trailer, this time the popular voice actor has shared a selfie on Twitter with a statue of Solid Snake from Metal Gear Solid 4.

Obviously, this David Hayter selfie is nothing concrete but given his previous teaser trailer with Konami not to mention all the leaks and rumours surrounding a remaster of Metal Gear Solid 4, I think this could very well be a case of no smoke without fire. We’ll keep you posted when we hear of any further developments.
Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol.1 is out now on PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch.
