The fifth phase of the MCU has officially begun, and it seems we may have already got some details about the first Avengers film in Phase Six.
Last summer, a whole plethora of new Marvel shows and movies releasing in the coming years were revealed, including not one, but two Avengers films. Unfortunately, they’re still quite a wait away - Avengers: The Kang Dynasty is currently set to hit cinemas on 2 May 2025, and Avengers: Secret Wars will follow it shortly after on 7 November 2025. So, 2025 is basically confirmed to be a stellar year for cinema.
The first Phase Five movie, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, is out now - take a look at the trailer below.
As Dexerto reports, rumours have now begun circulating which suggest that none other than Peter Parker (played by Tom Holland) will be the lead of Avengers: The Kang Dynasty when it releases. That’s according to prominent Marvel leakers MyTimeToShineHello and Ember via Twitter.
Reaction to this has been mixed. Some are incredibly hyped to see Spider-Man in such a key role: “Best news of the year for me,” @ChrisBodon tweeted, responding to the rumour. “Honestly, this is so f***ing exciting to have Spidey lead an Avengers movie,” added @EJTheMovieGuy15.

Others aren’t completely sold on the idea: “Nah making Spider-Man lead the Avengers makes absolutely zero sense to anyone who's even remotely familiar with the source material,” @ShadowStrike23 wrote. "I like Spider-Man but this makes no sense to me at all,” replied @ktgn1125.
At the time of writing, all of this is totally unconfirmed, so be sure to take it with a generous pinch of salt. Given how far away the movie is from releasing, it could be a while before we find out for sure if it’s true, but watch this space.
