It’s about time we got a new Max Payne game, right? The once prolific studio, Rockstar Games, known for its relatively diverse catalogue, has become a juggernaut only focusing on GTA and Red Dead Redemption.
You can’t blame them, they’re blockbuster games and Rockstar Games are masters of their craft but I do miss the days of Max Payne and Bully.
When will we see another trailer for GTA 6? Come on Rockstar, do the thing
With this in mind, someone has taken it upon themselves to remake Max Payne with full ray-tracing visuals and improved textures.

Modder ‘Slasks Psykbunker’ has released a demo for a project they’re calling Max Payne Remixed, which features a complete visual overhaul.
For now, only one level is playable, however should the project see popularity, this could be expanded in the future.
Along with the ray-traced visuals, more lighting has been added to the level, creating more reflections and a generally more comfortable experience.
Many textures have also been reworked to give the game a more natural feel. A big feature is the new textures for the character of Max Payne, meaning no more blurry images rendering.

The shooting, a big part of the game, has also been tweaked, but only visually. Now, gunfire has an illuminating muzzle flash, which interacts with the environment, bringing a new level of visual fidelity.
A remake or remaster of Max Payne has been wanted for many years now, however the franchise remains dormant.
This gives community creators and modders the chance to deliver what the people want, even if its only in bitesize chunks - after all, they’re usually solo creators or small teams.
Max Payne Remixed gives us an idea of what a remake could possibly look like so now we just have to get Rockstar Games to notice and shift a small team over to its creation.
