Mass Effect is hiding a 'shifty' enemy you've likely never encountered

Holy cow!

The Mass Effect series is one of the most beloved in the sci-fi RPG genre and for good reason. It’s a fantastic series with a level of replay value that most rivals can only dream of. It’s why to this day, nearly 20 years after its original release, fans still cannot get enough.

The original Mass Effect was released in 2007 for the Xbox 360 before making its way to other platforms. In the years that followed, it spawned three more sequels (including Mass Effect Andromeda) with a fifth mainline entry on the way.

Check out the Mass Effect 5 teaser trailer below!

However, despite being announced at The Game Awards in 2020, neither its developer BioWare nor publisher Electronic Arts is yet to announce a release date for Mass Effect 5. Some fear that it might not be released until the next generation.

Luckily for us fans, the Mass Effect series has enough replay value to have us coming back year after year and with the launch of Mass Effect Legendary Edition in 2021, we can enjoy improved versions of the original trilogy complete with all previously released DLC.

That being said, despite being originally released in 2007, there’s a ‘shifty’ enemy in the game that you’ve likely never encountered before. Though to be fair, for this enemy to get “shifty”, you technically have to take the first steps to becoming the enemy and instigator.

As shared by Game Rant, on the planet Ontarom in the Newton system near a gold deposit, you may have spotted an odd-looking cow called “Shifty Looking Cow”. If for whatever reason you decide to kill this cow in an unprovoked attack, it will respawn seconds later.

Yet, when it respawns, as with most shifty cows, it will follow you. However, in an act of justifiable revenge, if you turn your back on Shifty Looking Cow, it will proceed to steal your credits.

If there’s a lesson to be learned here, it’s that you should not shoot NPCs for no good reason, otherwise, you may pay for it, quite literally in this instance. Mass Effect Legendary Edition is out now on PC, PlayStation and Xbox.
