Mass Effect fans floored by new gameplay trailer for sci-fi RPG

Mass Effect fans floored by new gameplay trailer for sci-fi RPG

With a bunch of ex-BioWare staff at the helm, it's easy to see why people are hyped

A new teaser trailer for the upcoming space RPG EXODUS from developers Archetype Entertainment just dropped, and there’s an extra special reason as to why this one has got every Mass Effect fan excited for what’s in store.

That's because developers Archetype Entertainment actually have a lot of ex-BioWare members on their team, including Drew Karpyshyn (Lead Writer for both Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2), Chad Robertson (best known for their work on Dragon Age: Inquisition) and James Ohlen (who worked as a Creative Director and Lead Designer on titles such as Dragon Age: Origins and Jade Empire).

Although the game was announced quite recently, as it was revealed at the 2023 The Game Awards, the publishers did state that they were working on a “multi-platform roleplaying game set in a new science fiction universe” back in 2020.

The new teaser for EXODUS is actually a teaser for a full-length trailer, which should be dropping at around 5PM GMT according to the press release on Archetype Entertainment’s website.

I would also put money on said trailer being narrated by Matthew McConaughey, just like all the other trailers for EXODUS released thus far.

In a thread over on the r/Games subreddit discussing the teaser, the majority of the commenters are mostly just excited to have anything even tangentially related to Mass Effect back on their screens.

“I hope this game turns out well,” commented user ThomsYorkieBars, “we really don't have enough sci-fi RPGs, especially not on the scale of Mass Effect.”

“Looks very promising,” replied user Arcade_Gann0n, “I'm interested in seeing what these Mass Effect veterans have in store tomorrow.”

They may have to wait a while to get their hands on the title though, as we don’t currently have a release date for the upcoming game.

That could all change once the trailer drops in a few hours though, as it is exactly the kind of place you’d expect to see a release date announcement.
