We know very little about Mass Effect 5 at this point other than it’s on the way but a recent tease could give us a major hint about its story.
The next Mass Effect was announced at The Game Awards in 2020 with a teaser trailer that sent fans into a frenzy. Not much was shown in the trailer, other than the returning Liara T’Soni and what looked to be some of the N7 crew blurred in the far distance.
Check out the Mass Effect 5 trailer below!
Hopefully, before we’re treated to Mass Effect 5, I hope that it’s not already facing an uphill struggle to prove itself following some of the backlash of Dragon Age: The Veilguard.

Judging by what I see in the trailer, I believe that Liara T’Soni may have been tracking former members of her N7 crew and finally tracked them down on a snowy planet but I could be wrong.
In terms of what we know for sure, details are practically non-existent but a recent tease by the executive producer at BioWare, Michael Gamble who has been involved in previous Mass Effect projects as well as the upcoming sequel, hints that players should take notice of a popular piece of DLC.
The DLC in question is ‘Lair of the Shadow Broker’ for Mass Effect 2 and it stars Liara T’Soni who is tracking down a powerful and elusive informant across the galaxy known as the Shadow Broker. Without giving too much a way, it’s a fantastic piece of DLC that plants the seeds for Mass Effect 3.
As reported by PC Gamer (via Game Rant), it seems that in preparation for Mass Effect 5, players have been picking up Mass Effect Legendary Edition, a collection of remasters of the original trilogy that also includes all previously released DLC, such as ‘Lair of the Shadow Broker’.

In a recent tweet, Michael Gamble said: “So many new Mass Effect fans popping up in my mentions. Maybe because it’s like 5 bucks or something. Awesome to see. There’s an extra game worth of DLC content in there [Legendary Edition] but make sure you play Lair of the Shadow Broker.”

To be fair, Gamble could just be recommending that players don’t ignore this DLC but some fans will be hoping that this DLC might have some links to Mass Effect 5. We can only speculate at this time.
“Is it because the next Mass Effect will have us being an undercover N7 agent for the Shadow Broker?” asked ghostofcody.
Mass Effect 5 does not have a release date just yet but it might be safe to assume that it could be a next-gen title. As always, we’ll keep you posted when we learn more.
