There are plenty of exciting releases left in the remainder of this year: God Of War Ragnarök, Gotham Knights, The Callisto Protocol… And yet, my mind is already wandering to 2023. One title that we know is coming next year is Insomniac Games’ highly-anticipated Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.
The title will see Peter Parker and Miles Morales team up. If rumours are to be believed, main missions will have a fixed playable character with players able to switch between the two for side missions. Just yesterday, Insomniac confirmed that the game’s development was still on track. After that, we have Marvel’s Wolverine to look forward to but that game could be coming much sooner than we originally thought.
Check out the trailer for Marvel’s Wolverine below.
Back when Marvel’s Wolverine was announced, no release date was given. All we knew is that the title would follow the release of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. Given that that game was slated for 2023, many presumed that Marvel’s Wolverine would perhaps drop in 2024. It’s now been revealed by Microsoft, of all people, that Marvel’s Wolverine is also slated for a 2023 release.

As pointed out by Reddit user faizyMD, Microsoft recently submitted a document to the UK's Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) in relation to their ongoing acquisition of Activision. Part of the document refers to “PlayStation’s spate of first- and third-party exclusive titles lined up for launch in 2023, including Spider-Man 2, Wolverine, Horizon, Final Fantasy XVI and Forspoken.”
I’ll admit, it would be unusual for Insomniac to release both Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and Marvel’s Wolverine in the same year but Microsoft are certainly under that impression. I’m also intrigued by that Horizon mention. Could the rumoured remaster also be released next year? It’s something to ponder.
