Could this finally be the year Insomniac Games lifts the lid on Marvel’s Wolverine?

Well, that remains very uncertain despite a fresh tease having dropped.

It was all the way back in 2021 that Marvel’s Wolverine was first revealed during a PlayStation Showcase.

I remember the moment well. After the immense success of Marvel’s Spider-Man and its Miles Morales spin-off, Insomniac felt unstoppable.

And, of course, that’s exactly what they’ve continued to be with the launches of the incredible Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.

That’s why, despite no gameplay having yet been released, I have a feeling that the studio is cooking up something special with Marvel’s Wolverine.

Of course, the game was affected by the major leak that hit Insomniac last year.

It’s believed that the leak may have contributed to the cancellation of any possible DLC for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and potentially also the delay of Marvel’s Wolverine’s release date.

ICYMI: Take a look at that original reveal trailer below.

We’re still pretty in the dark about Marvel’s Wolverine but the studio has just offered a crumb of an update.

You may have heard that Insomniac co-founder Ted Price is retiring, with Price’s role set to be filled by new studio co-heads Chad Dezern, Ryan Schneider, and Jen Huang.

Dezern recently sat down with Variety to discuss the transition, touching on the status of Marvel’s Wolverine.

"We’ve announced Wolverine, and we’d love to talk more about Wolverine, but we have to be like Logan today, and remain very stoic until it’s time to pop the claws down the road,” he said.

"As much as we’re as much as we have pent-up excitement, we got to hold on to it, so that’s, that’s about as much as we could say about our upcoming projects today."

I did say it was a crumb of an update as Dezern gives very little away, although my gut is telling me that news might land this year.

I’m thinking back to when Neil Druckmann teased his next game, adding that it would be up to Sony to choose when it is revealed.

Mere weeks later, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet was unveiled at The Game Awards.

Perhaps one of this summer’s major gaming events will bring us news of Marvel’s Wolverine.

Fingers crossed.
