Marvel's Spider-Man 2 release date creeps closer to a confirmation

Marvel's Spider-Man 2 release date creeps closer to a confirmation

A new teaser for Marvel's Spider-Man 2 has made some fans think that the game is releasing far sooner than expected.

We're now on January's fifth Monday, if you can believe it. It's been a very long month, but as each day passes, we get slightly closer to the release of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. Thinking about that helps a lot.

It sounds like have plenty to be excited for in the sequel. Peter Parker’s voice actor, Yuri Lowenthal, recently stated that the title is “astonishing,” and that it’s so huge, he still has some work on it that’s yet to be completed. Meanwhile, Tony Todd, the voice of Venom, has been teasing his character’s role in the game - it sounds like he’s going to be pretty brutal.

A new teaser has been dropped for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 - take a look below.

The question still remains though, when exactly will the new web-slinging adventure be releasing? Gamers might have had a bit of a surprise over the weekend if they spotted that the latest teaser for the game states that it’s coming out in “spring 2023,” which is completely true… for the southern hemisphere.

As Push Square reports, footage of the Australian version of the ad made its way online recently, which might have left a few fans confused if they didn’t notice where it’d originated from. Spring in Australia runs from the start of September to the end of November - the exact same as autumn in the northern hemisphere (which Insomniac Games had already confirmed as the title’s release window).

So unfortunately, no - the game isn’t going to be dropping in the next few months, but as it’s continued to pop up in more and more PlayStation ads, we can probably expect a proper release date reveal sometime soon. I’m sure I speak for everyone when I say that it’s definitely about time that we get a gameplay reveal, too - one insider claimed last year that it looks so good, one employee confused it for a cutscene.

PlayStation's God of War Ragnarök narrowly missed out on the big win at The Game Awards last month, but with Marvel's Spider-Man 2 lined up for release at the end of the year, Sony might soon be on its way to pick up the coveted Game of the Year award. We'll just have to wait and see.
