Marvel’s Spider-Man free download is available now, and no PS Plus subscription is needed.
Developed by Insomniac Games, when Marvel’s Spider-Man was first released for the PlayStation 4 in 2018, it quickly became one of Sony’s premiere first-party properties. Sitting firmly alongside Rocksteady Studios’ Batman Arkham series, Marvel’s Spider-Man is considered one of the best superhero video games of all time.
Then in launching alongside the standalone Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales on 12 November 2020, a remastered version of the Peter Parker adventures looked and played better than ever on PlayStation 5.

So it’s fair to say that when Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 was announced during a PlayStation Showcase event in September 2021, anticipation for the sequel went through the roof in a game that sees Peter Parker's arch-nemesis Venom, takes centre stage.
However, technically, since the launch of the first game and the upcoming sequel that will release towards the end of this year, it’s been five long years or to be more dramatic, half a decade.
Naturally, in between those five years, both Peter Parker and Miles Morales would have been up to all kinds of neighbourly hero antics and shenanigans. Thankfully, to get us up to speed on what the duo has been up to, in collaboration with Marvel Comics, Insomniac Games announced a free prequel comic.
As reported by Eurogamer, that prequel comic is available now to read online via Marvel.com. If you’d prefer the physical version, the comic will also be available in select regions at participating retailers at a later date, so be sure to check out your favourite comic book store for potential stock.
In related news, a developer at Insomniac Games has teased that the studio is working hard to ensure that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is its best game ever!
