The latest update to Marvel Snap has caused a bit of an uproar among the community.
Marvel Snap can be quite a competitive game. As a card battler, players need only the best cards to deploy in battle so they can gain the upper hand over their opponent.
From Wolverine to Howard the Duck, characters from all over the Marvel canon make an appearance here, with certain cards being more preferable than others due to how strong they are.

As such, with some cards being much more meta-defining than others, they end up being rarer to obtain. Each card is organised into different Series, numbered 1 to 5, with the latter being the rarest and most powerful.
Speaking of Marvel, Thunderbolts is coming to cinemas in May 2025. Check out the trailer.
To spice things up a bit, Marvel Snap developer Second Dinner tends to do Series Drops from time to time. This basically moves cards down from Series 5 to 4, and Series 4 to 3, in order to make them a bit less rare.

Marvel Snap’s next Series Drop, scheduled for 10th December, has rustled the feathers of the community.
Going to Series 4 from Series 5 are Phastos, Grandmaster, Pixie, Beta Ray Bill, X-23, Supergiant, Sasquatch, Valentina, and Iron Lad.
Meanwhile, Snowguard, Kitty Pryde, and Jean Grey are moving to Series 3.
Judging from the look of it, most of these cards are unpopular with the community. Very few of them aren’t even that practical for competing with.

“The sad part is that we all expected something underwhelming and somehow we're still disappointed,” wrote a user on X (formerly Twitter).

“Sure but this drop is so tone deaf it’s insulting to your player base. Good job dropping the ball again,” writes one user on X.
Marvel Snap content creators have voiced their concerns regarding the quality of these drops. Snap Judgements released a nearly 30-minute video on YouTube discussing the changes.
“There’s nothing here that’s meta,” Snap Judgement says before calling the update “disappointing”.
Over on Reddit, the sentiment is similar, with one player writing: “The cards here shouldn’t even have been Series 5 in the first place.”

Considering Series Drops don’t happen all that often in Marvel Snap, around twice a year, it’s easy to see why players are frustrated with this update.
While Second Dinner has not followed up with the community and addressed the controversial update yet, the devs are probably having internal discussions right now to figure out what comes next.
