Marvel officially unveils first look at our all-new Avengers lineup

It's a new era for the Avengers

The MCU’s Avengers line-up will likely remain a mystery until we’re much closer to the launch of Avengers: Doomsday, but Marvel Comics is just about to debut a new team.

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again.

While, yes, there are plenty of MCU fans who are well-versed in the worlds of Marvel Comics, so too are there many who have simply only watched the films.

If you want a vast library of Marvel stories, right at your fingertips, then you may want to go about changing that latter point - especially as services like Marvel Unlimited make it so easy to binge the company’s back catalogue.

If you’re specifically looking for an Avengers fix then you’re in luck as a new Avengers spin-off series is about to debut.

On 11 September, Avengers Assemble #1 is set to launch.

Written by Steve Orlando and with art by Cory Smith, the new run will see Steve Rogers put together an all-new Avengers line-up.

Agatha All Along debuts on 18 September. Take a look at the trailer below.

That line-up consists of Shang-Chi, Photon, Wasp, Hawkeye, She-Hulk, Wonder Man, Hercules, Lightning, Night Thrasher, and Lightspeed.

It’s a vastly different line-up to what we’ve seen thus far in the MCU.

In fact, it’s a vastly different line-up from the comic run that preceded it where the team included the more perhaps well known faces of Iron Man, Thor, Captain Marvel, Black Panther, Vision, and Scarlet Witch.

Why has Steve assembled a new team? To deal with a new threat of course.

Red Skull’s daughter, Sin, is our latest big bad. She’s in possession of the holy death mask of Erida which, if you hadn’t gathered, isn’t a good thing.

Avengers Assemble is bringing a murderer's row of classic Avengers back to the Mansion, and classic comics storytelling is coming with it,” explained writer Steve Orlando.

“A team of icons and new recruits alike, but heavy on the icons! And in every issue, a barnburner of an entire story packed into 20 pages."

It’ll be interesting to see if this new line-up has any similarities with the MCU’s next Avengers team when that manifests in a few years time.
