One Of the PS5's biggest games has been pulled from sale

One Of the PS5's biggest games has been pulled from sale

Skull and Bones is no longer available to preorder on the PlayStation Store - preorders have reportedly been refunded.

One huge upcoming PS5 title has just been pulled from the PlayStation Store with no warning, and there’s seemingly no indication as to when it can be expected to return.

It’s a pretty rare occurrence for a game to randomly get taken down from the PlayStation Store. Sometimes, it happens when all support for a title has come to an end - it was recently announced that Marvel’s Avengers will be removed from all digital storefronts later this year after receiving its final update in March. However, it’s a different matter altogether when the removed game hasn’t even been released yet.

Skull and Bones has been delayed many, many times at this point. Ubisoft’s upcoming action-adventure first entered development in 2013, so it’s been a long time coming. The gameplay genuinely looks really promising, too - the so-called “open sea, pirate experience” isn’t exactly a difficult sell, and gamers have been on board (excuse the pun) since its announcement all those years ago.

However, as PlayStation LifeStyle writes, many fans have reported that their preorders for the game have now been refunded. Most concerning is the fact that the game is no longer available to preorder on the PlayStation Store - the only option available is to add it to your Wishlist instead.

At the time of writing, it’s not known if this might spell yet another delay for the game - given its track record, it doesn’t seem unreasonable. On its PlayStation Store page, Skull and Bones is currently slated for a 2023 release, which seems vague enough that it shouldn’t need to be pushed back any further right now, but who knows at this point. The good news is that anyone affected should be getting their money back if they haven’t already - presumably, you’ll be able to put another preorder in at a later date.
