Update: 18/01/2023
GAMINGbible received the following statement from Dead By Daylight Studio Behaviour Interactive confirming that Leatherface will not be leaving the game after all:
"Thank you for taking the time to address the rumours about Leatherface leaving our game. I am glad to share with you that The Cannibal is indeed staying a part of the Dead by Daylight Experience. He’s hooked on us!"

Original story follows:
Dead by Daylight welcomed a whole host of iconic horror killers through its doors, from Albert Wesker to Freddy Krueger to Michael Myers. These additions are not only exciting for the players but is a testament to the popularity of the game. However, it looks like the community is about to lose one of its most famous faces. Yes. That is a pun.
The downside of stepping into the shoes of these villains - bloodstained hands and criminal records notwithstanding - is that the game will lose the license to use these characters. It's what happened to Stranger Things' The Demogorgon which was included in Dead by Daylight's Chapter 13 DLC with survivors Nancy Wheeler and Steve Harrington. These characters are still active in the game for those who bought the extra content, however, there's no way to play the Underground Complex map any more.
Check out the new Texas Chainsaw Massacre game below:
Unexpectedly, DBDLeaks bid a fond farewell to the killer in a post to Twitter. "Goodbye Bubba, enjoy your last months in the fog. I'll forever miss you camping me in the basement," they said, which was a significant surprise to the community. DBDLeaks is an accurate leaker for the game and so we'll take what they say with some stock, and there's a theory that this possible removal is to do with the new Texas Chainsaw Massacre game from the developer of Friday the 13th: The Game.
Additionally, another player noticed that Leatherface's perks - Knock Out, Barbecue & Chilli and Franklin's Demise - are apparently being renamed. This was the case with The Demogorgon from Stranger Things when the game lost the license for that monster and so this appears to be a second sign that Leatherface will no longer be involved in Dead by Daylight in the near future. Of course, there's no word from Behaviour Interactive at the moment so we'll hold on for an official confirmation.
