New 'I Am Jesus Christ' Footage Shows The Cleansing Of The Temple

The anticipated Jesus simulator inches ever closer to completion.

Development on the first-person Jesus Christ simulator is moving along nicely. If you have no idea what I’m talking about, let me recap. Indie developer SimulaM announced I Am Jesus Christ back in 2019 and it’s exactly what it sounds like.

The game is being built in Unreal Engine 5 and players will take on the role of Jesus himself as they carry out miracles and cast away demons, typical Jesus daily routine I suppose. As the developers are using UE5, I Am Jesus Christ unsurprisingly boasts some impressive graphics and now, a new development log debuts gameplay for one of Jesus’ most famous miracles.

If you fancy learning more, take a look at this preview of I Am Jesus Christ's maps and quests below.

As reported by Twinfinite, SimulaM’s latest development update shows Jesus carrying out the cleansing of the temple. According to a little known book called the Bible, the cleansing of the temple took place in Herod’s Temple, Jerusalem, and saw Jesus expel merchants who he believed had turned the temple into a “den of thieves”.

In the clip released by SimulaM, we see Jesus destroying tables, which isn’t exactly what springs to mind when I think of cleansing a temple but hey, it’s what we’ve got. The event takes place shortly before Jesus’ arrest so we can assume that this scene takes place towards the end of the game.

In fact, the developers hinted towards the fact that a full build is almost ready as I Am Jesus Christ is set to debut at Gamescom in August. Hungry for more? The official synopsis on Steam reads: “Are you prepared to fight with Satan in the desert, cure the sick and help the needy? Perform over 30 iconic miracles from the feeding of the 5,000 and healing lepers to the calming of the sea, and giving sight to the blind.” Early access on Steam is scheduled for December of this year.
