If you’re a PlayStation 4 or Xbox One owner diving into Hogwarts Legacy, I’d imagine that you’re still in the midst of exploring all that the game has to offer. For players who have been around since the original launch window though, chances are, you’re hungry for something new. Well, PC players are in luck because the ‘Sword of Gryffindor’ mod could be just the thing you’re after.
It’s no secret that Hogwarts Legacy is a colossal success. It’s making more money than the Harry Potter movies. To put a number on that, it’s already earned $1 billion and that figure continues to climb. While Hogwarts Legacy may be commercially successful though, fans are in agreement that there’s definite room for improvement. The open world is a little too obsessed with caves and ruins, plus there’s no companion system nor a playable version of quidditch. If you’re looking to spice up the game’s combat though, the new ‘Sword of Gryffindor’ mod could be just the answer.

The mod has been created by Nexus Mods user Arbek and does exactly what it says on the tin: it introduces the famous Sword of Gryffindor into the game. There is one catch though. You can’t actually use it as a sword to slice your enemies. Instead, the sword replaces your wand, so you can still cast Avada Kedavra and Confringo. It’s just that the spell will be emitted from the tip of the sword.

It does look very cool though. Hogwarts Legacy still may be lacking a photo mode, but if you’re into capturing screenshots, wielding the Sword of Gryffindor could help you create some great ones.
Unfortunately, not everyone is able to try out Hogwarts Legacy just yet. Nintendo Switch owners are still waiting for their chance. The game was originally due to release on Switch on 25 July, but the release date has now been delayed to 14 November 2023.
