PlayStation has some unhappy users once again as a Hogwarts Legacy inspired download asks for a bit too much.
I’m a simple girl who likes simple things and hoarding collectibles based on my favourite things is usually a no-brainer for me.
Check out the recent Hogwarts Legacy summer update trailer below!
However, a new ‘free’ download courtesy of PlayStation Stars is a bit much even for me, especially considering it costs 500 of a user's hard-earned points.

Let’s rewind just a little bit.
For those who don’t know, PlayStation Stars is a free loyalty scheme by Sony which rewards PlayStation users with points based on a few key things.
This includes purchasing select games, playing them or taking part in certain challenges.
As a result, the points can be racked up over time and can eventually be exchanged for free store credit which means it won’t be long before you can grab a new release for absolutely free.

However, if for some reason you don’t want free store credit, you can also use the points to ‘purchase’ collectibles which you can display on your virtual PS shelves.
That is what is up for grabs for Harry Potter and Hogwarts Legacy fans this month.
Players can go ahead and grab a Golden Snitch virtual collectible but there’s a catch.
It’s a whopping 500 points.

As a result, users of PS Stars are understandably outraged.
“The points they're asking for are getting a little excessive,” one user said over on r/playstationstars.
Another said: “There's been way too many purchasable collectibles lately. This really should have been one that's unlocked by just playing or earning a trophy in the game.”
One other user said what we were all thinking, “free money or a useless collectible? Hmmm it’s so hard to pick.”

It seems as though Sony will have to adjust these prices if they want more users to grab these collectibles.
However, I feel as though the chance of free money will always outweigh a digital item.
