Recently, the rumour mill has been churning itself into maximum overdrive, with claims that none other than Harrison Ford, the iconic American actor best known for his roles as Indiana Jones and Han Solo, will be joining the MCU in Phase Five.
It was reported that Ford will be taking on the role of Thaddeus ‘Thunderbolt’ Ross - replacing the late William Hurt, who sadly passed away at the age of 71 earlier this year. According to The Ankler’s Jeff Sneider, the Indiana Jones star will make his debut in Captain America: New World Order, and return in Thunderbolts - both releasing in 2024.
Coming up soon on the Marvel release calendar is the Disney+ series Secret Invasion - check out the trailer right here.
Now, sources have reportedly confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that this is true. New World Order is currently set to release on 3 May, 2024, so although there’s a big wait ahead, fans can look forward to the legendary actor’s MCU appearance then.

Before that though, Ford will be reprising his role as Indiana Jones in the currently untitled fifth movie in the series, planned for release in 2023. Earlier this year, composer John Williams (the genius behind loads of movie scores, including those for Indiana Jones, Star Wars and Harry Potter) suggested that the upcoming instalment may be Ford’s last movie outing, but thanks to Marvel, it seems that this isn’t the case.
Speaking of Marvel, it’s been claimed by a different insider that Sacha Baron Cohen has been cast as Mephisto in the upcoming Phase Five Disney+ show, Ironheart. The series, which will follow the exploits of titular hero Riri Williams (played by Dominique Thorne), is currently set to release in autumn 2023. However, Ironheart herself will be making an appearance in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, which release on 11 November this year.
