I’m really rooting for the folks over at 343 Industries because they do seem to be trying their damn hardest to make Halo: Infinite the best possible experience for players. It’s an A for effort but goodness me, are they having a horrific time.

There have been so many issues that it’s hard to know where to begin. Upon release, Halo: Infinite lacked a co-op campaign and much to everyone’s disappointment, is still yet to receive one. The player base subsequently hit an all time low on Steam Database and even prior to its release, season two was deemed too little, too late.

Season two is finally upon us but just days after its release, both players and developers are acknowledging the poor state of the latest offering. The update features a host of bugs, fixes to popular exploits, and many players are experiencing weapon jamming.

Head of creative Joseph Staten took to Twitter to say, “Hey Spartans, this week has been bumpy. That definitely wasn’t our goal. We are indeed taking your feedback to heart, especially regarding map jumps and speedrunning.”

The update essentially wiped out a number of well known glitches that players were using to complete speedruns, including the ability to hijack the Pelican. It sounds like 343 Industries may be looking into reversing those changes but fans have displayed their dismay.

YouTuber Mint Blitz said, “Everything that was fun about the campaign, that I was excited to try when co-op releases later this year? Gone. [...] Nobody asked for this, for any of the changes.” Yikes.

It’s not all bad news. Players do seem to be enjoying the new maps, multiplayer modes and cosmetic items but that might not be enough anymore. With co-op still several months away, Halo: Infinite really couldn’t afford a “bumpy” season two.
