We know GTA VI is coming this year - as long as production doesn’t suffer a huge setback - and we got to see some of the game’s protagonists in the first trailer, however, we don’t know much more.
We haven’t even seen any gameplay from the upcoming blockbuster from Rockstar Games, yet the folks over at Digital Foundry believe we can get a little glimpse of what the game could look like.
Hopefully a second trailer for GTA VI drops soon, and we get a look at some gameplay.
In their article on Eurogamer, the tech wizards have been examining the latest visual upgrades for the enhanced edition of GTA V.

Alex Battaglia goes into detail on what we can expect from GTA VI visually, noting the tech advancements Rockstar Games will be taking advantage of.
He says, “We still don't think GTA VI will be a 60fps game on consoles, however, and again, GTA V on PC indicates that the set-up costs for RT are too much for 60fps on console-equivalent CPUs. So while RTGI is relatively light on the GPU, it is far heavier on the CPU side and is more limiting as a result.”
He’s referring to ray-traced global illumination, which completely transforms scenes, bringing a new level of details to textures and models.
Battaglia hints that we could actually be seeing GTA VI tech in this upgraded version of GTA V, suggesting that the developers could be using the older game as a testing ground.

This isn’t out of the realms of possibility, and would be a good gauge of how new features operate in a large open-world.
Sure, it may tank the framerate, using such advanced lighting, but it’s going to make for a gorgeous game.
We’ll have to wait until the next showing of GTA VI, in the long-awaited second trailer, however, if you’ve got a beefy PC, you can see these changes for yourself.
