GTA 6 fans are already roasting Rockstar's next big announcement

Surely, this is a troll, right?

GTA VI is rightly roasting Rockstar Games’ next big announcement, which surely has to be a troll for the Red Dead Redemption developer.

Whenever a new game in the Grand Theft Auto series arrives, it’s always a huge event for the video game industry with its last game, GTA V selling a reported 205 million units (and counting) according to Statista.com.

Check out the GTA VI trailer below!

Though it has to be said, one of the main reasons that GTA V sold so many copies (other than being an amazing game) is that it’s launched on every console generation since its 2013 arrival on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Rockstar Games will have the intention of GTA VI outdoing its predecessor in every way and to be honest, it would be a shocking turn of events if it never garnered that level of success.

Following years of rumours and leaks, Rockstar Games finally released the first trailer for GTA VI on 4 December 2023. At the time of writing, its trailer on YouTube has surpassed 220,212 million views.

So, as you can imagine, fans are hyped for the next GTA VI trailer and recently, that hope was seemingly coming to fruition when Rockstar Games teased an announcement coming on 4 December 2024, the first anniversary of its debut trailer.

However, this big announcement for 4 December was just another event for GTA Online rewarding players with free cosmetic DLC. I know free DLC is a good thing, but Rockstar Games knew exactly what it was doing.

“So far, the GTA Online community has lifted more than GTA$5 Trillion in The Heist Challenge,” it tweeted. “Hit GTA$20 Trillion by Dec 4 and get the Pacific Standard Varsity Jacket, plus two rewards in the December GTA Online update.”

Some fans hope that an announcement for the next GTA VI trailer will be made on Thursday, 22 November, but many still have doubts.

“Everybody on November 22,” posted Redditor PrestigiousStuff6173 with a meme of a man excitingly opening a fridge only to be met with disappointment.

“Is anyone actually expecting something to drop on the 22nd?” asked TheParadiseBird to which windup00 replied “Just an announcement for a trailer.”

“Rockstar released the first two Red Dead Redemption 2 trailers on Thursdays, to be fair,” said a hopeful lynchcontraideal.

“I can’t wait for people to be angry on Friday,” jokes EliteFireBox.

“The ultimate troll would be them to upload the fridge gif without saying anything,” said Specific_Lunch_5063 referring to the meme/gif that has been spammed in the thread.

Rockstar Games does sometimes have the habit of dropping huge news out of the blue, so maybe, just maybe there might be a chance. We’ll keep you posted if that happens.

Grand Theft Auto VI is currently scheduled to be released in late 2025 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. Its PC release is yet to be announced.
