GTA 6 fans call out Rockstar over how the game was announced

Like seriously Rockstar Games, do something!

It’s now been nearly a year and a half since Rockstar Games announced that it was working on GTA VI, and fans are growing frustrated with the lack of updates.

Well, when we say “lack of updates”, we actually mean no updates. Even since Grand Theft Auto VI was announced to be in development in February 2022, Rockstar Games has been extremely quiet on the details. So far, we’ve had to make do with the infamous gameplay leaks of an early build as well as endless rumours and speculation.

At this point, we don't know officially when or where GTA VI will be set, though continuous rumours do suggest a return to Vice City and perhaps even venturing into South America. Heck, we don’t even know what its story will be. However, rumours also suggest that GTA VI focuses on two playable protagonists named Jason and Lucia.

Sadly, until Rockstar Games gives us something more to chew on, pretty much all of the above is hearsay and fans are desperate for some kind of update from the developer. No wonder some fans fear they will die before the game is ever released!

“Why did Rockstar announce that they were working on GTA VI in 2022?” asked Redditor skyrimlo.

“Since its announcement in February 2022, there has been no official info on the game,” they continued. “Why do you think it even announced it so soon if it’s not going to update us on the game’s development or release any promo?” This Reddit user makes very valid points and much of the thread is in agreement.

“Damage control,” said 0zer0zer0, seemingly hitting the proverbial nail on the head. “Because it was damage control for all the bad press they were getting and did it to bump up their stocks for the investor's call,” replied Appropriate-Can-6795, referring to the hot mess that was Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition.

“Honestly I think they keep changing their minds on what to do - I think they were thinking about revealing the game not long after the leaks, hence them saying we'll hear more about it in the coming months,” suggested FromWestLondon. “Pretty sure they mentioned it once more after that as well - but here we are almost a year later and nothing. My gut feeling tells me we won't get an announcement this year - but who knows only time will tell.”

At this time there is no telling when Rockstar Games will release details on Grand Theft Auto VI. We can only hope that we might get to see some gameplay or even a confirmed release date this year. That being said, with reports that GTA VI won't be arriving until 2024 to 2025, we could still be in for a long wait indeed.
