GTA VI fans are concerned that the Xbox Series S will hold Rockstar Games’ highly anticipated game back.
The Xbox Series S is a great little console. Sure it’s not as powerful as the Series X or PlayStation 5, but at the cost of an additional graphics or performance mode, it’s able to run new-gen titles to a reasonable standard. Not to mention that it’s available at a fraction of the cost compared to its bigger sibling.
However, now approaching two years into the new generation, fans are growing concerned that the charming Xbox Series S will be left behind or even hold some of the more demanding upcoming releases back. One such game is the aforementioned GTA VI.

We know that GTA IV is in development, as confirmed by Rockstar Games in February 2022. Its release is not expected for at least another year or so, and there will be no doubt that GTA VI will push modern consoles to the limits. What’s more, while it's not been outright confirmed, it’s a safe assumption to make that this release will be new-gen only.
It remains to be seen how well the Xbox Series X and PS5 will handle GTA VI, though we have faith that Rockstar Games will optimise the game to meet the series' high standard. Sadly, perhaps the same can't be said for the Series S.
The PS5 and Series X will likely offer some form of 4K, Ray-tracing and 60fps, the same might not be said for the Series S. It’s likely that GTA VI could run at 1080p with 30fps. But will that be enough, will the Series S be able to handle this mammoth of a game to an acceptable standard? That is the question being asked on Reddit.
“Do you think the Xbox Series S will hold back GTA VI in any way?” asked Redditor Switch_Cover.

“I don't mean to throw any shade or start some shitty console war, but the Series S is clearly more powerful than the PS4 and Xbox One but not as powerful as the PS5 and Xbox Series X,” they said. “Just wanted to know what's everyone's thoughts on this, especially since the game will obviously be "next-gen" and PC only?”
“Surely they could just reduce NPC density, turn off Ray-tracing, cap at 30fps for that console and it should be fine,” suggested Senor_Tortuga308. “It'll just be missing a couple of features - probably a higher fidelity + performance setting like GTA V,” added Machinima_.
Some Reddit users even made valid points that the PS4 and Xbox One were able to handle the likes of Red Dead Redemption 2. So if that was possible, perhaps we might be underestimating the little Xbox Series S after all.
