Grand Theft Auto VI is happening, that much we know, but Rockstar Games are keeping hush-hush on practically every other detail about the game. Back in September, GTA VI was subject to a major cyber attack during which over an hour of footage was stolen and leaked, alongside source code and various screenshots. According to Rockstar, this will not impact the game’s development.
The leak certainly confirmed that the title is progressing nicely, but a full reveal looks to be several months away at least. In the meantime though, fans are filling their time. Some are mapping out GTA VI’s version of Vice City, whilst others have dreamt up a sequel to San Andreas. One new fan-project imagines what GTA VI’s open world might look like - and the results are incredible.
Take a look at this incredible GTA V mod which allows you to play as The Boys’ Homelander.
The projects are the work of YouTuber XXII who’s used Unreal Engine 5 to imagine what it might look like if Liberty City, Vice City and a Rio De Janeiro-inspired location all existed within Grand Theft Auto VI’s map. That certainly would be far bigger than anything we’ve seen in the franchise to date. In the various clips, XXII showcased brief snippets of self-made free roam gameplay, imagining what GTA VI might be like. Take a look at the Vice City clip below.
Needless to say, fellow GTA fans were impressed. Deployment01 wrote, “Man, you gotta make a game of this with details, physics - and I’ll pay 100 bucks for it. Others will too.” Savannah Paige added, “Can you imagine? GTA 6 is probably going to look this good, possibly better,” while Crazytrain2015 said, “If GTA VI uses this concept as gameplay, I would 100% play it. The world you created as a concept is really beautiful.” Check out the Liberty City project below.
We don’t yet know when Rockstar plans on officially unveiling GTA VI, but it’s thought that the game will release in 2025 or 2026. I imagine there will be plenty more fan projects between now and then.
