Rockstar Games’ long awaited Grand Theft Auto VI still doesn’t have a release date in sight, but yet it’s already been nominated for an extremely fitting award.
In case you’ve been living under a rock, all of The Game Award nominees were announced this Monday - and no, before you ask, GTA 6 hasn’t been nominated for the actual GOTY category (give it a year or two).
It did get nominated in one of its categories however, and I think you’ll all agree that it’s almost definitely going to win.

The Game Awards’ “Most Anticipated Game” award, the category that recognises “an announced game that has demonstrably illustrated potential to push the gaming medium forward”, has five games in the running - and hey, I love you Metroid but you ain’t winning this one.
The nominees, as listed on the official TGA site, are; Death Stranding: On The Beach, Ghost of Yōtei, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, Monster Hunter Wilds, and, of course, Grand Theft Auto VI.
Honestly, Half-Life 3 could be in the running and I still reckon GTA 6 would take it at this point.
Fans of the game naturally had a little bit of fun with this news in a thread over on the r/GTA6 subreddit detailing the announcement.

“At this point category shouldn't even exist” replied user VitMeR, “Easiest win ever”.
“We got GTA 6 winning an award before GTA 6” commented user Some-Gay-Korean.
And, of course, some of the commenters took the opportunity to throw out some absolutely wild speculation (as has come to be expected of GTA 6 fans).
“Well, if the Nov 22nd theory doesn't bring anything at all then we have the "2nd trailer has to be at TGA because GTA VI is nominated for one of the categories" theory. We won't stop being schizo till the 2nd trailer drops” replied ToppleToes.
