It’s another day which means there’s another Grand Theft Auto rumour, but you might be surprised that it’s not related to GTA VI.
In recent days, speculation suggests that a Red Dead Redemption remaster or remake is on the way. Rockstar Games’ 2010 classic is widely considered by some to be one of the best video games of all time. So naturally, there comes a point that fans will not only want a heavy dose of nostalgia but perhaps a better version of the game they love.
Take a look at the original GTA IV in action below.
However, rumours of the Red Dead Redemption remaster/remake are nothing new. In fact, some of the rumours began circulating in 2022. Sadly, those rumours were apparently squashed with Rockstar Games not only cancelling the RDR remaster/remake but also, reportedly, a remaster of GTA IV. It was said that Rockstar Games cancelled the two projects so that it could put all focus on the development of Grand Theft Auto VI. Yet, when the studio's website was recently updated, fresh rumours were thrown onto the speculative fire once more. It was reported that both projects were not cancelled but instead, development was paused.

Looking back at the speculation last year with talk of both Red Dead Redemption and GTA IV being remastered/remade, can we also expect to see the return of Niko Bellic and co alongside a new version of John Marston and his family? Well, apparently so. As reported by Metro, in a tweet shared by reputable leaker Ben (@videotechx), it was revealed that Rockstar Games' parent company Take-Two Interactive plan on releasing two “previously-released titles” during its fiscal 2024 year, which runs until March 2024.
So, taking all the recent rumours into account, the safest assumption would be that not only is the Red Dead Redemption remaster/remake on the way, but so too could GTA IV. Obviously, we should take all rumours and speculation with a pinch of salt until proven otherwise. That being said, I am a firm believer that there is no smoke without fire. So as they say, watch this space.
