God Of War Ragnarök certainly isn’t disappointing, is it? The conclusion to Kratos’ norse saga burst onto the scene last week, landing an impressive score of 94 on Metacritic. In our own review, GAMINGbible’s Ewan wrote that, “Ragnarök is a fantastically impressive sequel that delivers in every conceivable way. [...] This is a high-stakes, high-fantasy rollercoaster from start to finish, and an instant PlayStation classic.”
Just yesterday, it was revealed that God Of War Ragnarök has landed the most nominations at this year’s Game Awards, coming away with 10 nominations. I may only be nine hours in, but I can definitely already see why. God Of War Ragnarök’s accolades don’t end there though. The game’s UK launch has seen it beat Modern Warfare II, Elden Ring, and Pokémon Legends: Arceus.
Want to see something impressive? This creator beat God of War’s Valkyrie boss using only a dance pad. Take a look below.
As reported by GamesIndustry.biz, God Of War Ragnarök has had the UK’s second biggest boxed launch of the year, losing only to FIFA 23. This means that God Of War Ragnarök sold more boxed copies in its first week than Elden Ring, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II, and Pokémon Legends: Arceus. Not to state the obvious, but this statistic takes into account physical sales only.

God Of War Ragnarök sold more copies in its first day than any other God Of War game sold in its first week. Charts company GfK reported that Ragnarök sold 51% more units than 2018’s God of War, and the title is already the third best-selling God Of War game of all-time. I shouldn’t imagine it’ll take long for Ragnarök to claim the top spot. It’s already second in terms of revenue.
God Of War Ragnarök’s sales were boosted thanks to the fact that the game was bundled with PlayStation 5 consoles. This accounted for 12% of all first-week sales. This has also been the UK’s biggest sales week for PS5s this year, so it sure seems like Kratos is to thank for that fact. I imagine we’ll be hearing about God Of War Ragnarök’s colossal success for many weeks to come.
