Ghost of Tsushima has been voted the ‘most beautiful video game world’ by fans and we agree.
Developed by Sucker Punch Productions, the studio behind the Sly Cooper and Infamous series, Ghost of Tsushima is one of the most visually stunning games in years when it was released for PS4 in 2020. Then the PS5 port arrived in 2021 and a game we thought couldn't look more beautiful, proved us totally wrong.
Ghost of Tsushima is set during the late 1200s, and following a Mongol invasion led by Khotun Khan, the Japanese island of Tsushima is invaded and the barbarians raid and destroy anyone or anything that gets in their way.
At the heart of its story is Jin Sakai, an up-and-coming samurai warrior, and nephew to the great Lord Shimura. The samurai live by a strict moral code, but when desperate times call for desperate measures, Jin must question all that he has been taught and puts his samurai code to the test in order to save the people of Tshushima from Mongol savagery.

Without question, as brutal as the story of Ghost of Tsushima can be, its world is as beautiful as no other. A vast open world, full of vast countryside hills, blooming blossom trees with petals floating in the world and the crash of waves impacting the coastal shore. If you’ve never played this amazing game, words cannot do it justice.
On Reddit, fans have been discussing the most visually beautiful video games and to no surprise, Ghost of Tsushima was a game that came up on more than one occasion on the forum thread.
“What was the most beautiful world in a video game for you?” asks Crocodile_Banger.

“Ghost of Tsushima”, simply replied l-Scotto-l. “Came here to say this - the art direction is absolutely amazing. Each scene is a wonderful vista,” agreed Rythine_.
“The PS5 version of GoT is probably the best-looking game I’ve ever played, there have been many times I just ride around on Kage while just taking in the sights and kicking Mongol ass,” added Firebrand-PX22.
In all honesty, I could pick out quotes all day due to Ghost of Tsushima being mentioned that often on the thread. There were some other mentions, such as from TheSwervingDuck, who shared memories from 2002's The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind.
“Getting off the boat in Seyda Neen in TES 3: Morrowind the first time for me in 2005 was just wow,” they said. “The lighthouse at dusk combined with rain and thunder was just so amazingly beautiful.”

Other honourable mentions were made to Red Dead Redemption 2, World at Warcraft, BioShock Infinite, Horizon Zero Dawn/Forbidden West, Breath of the Wild, Elden Ring and so much more.
In related news, Ghost of Tsushima 2 was seemingly confirmed for PlayStation 5 back in June 2022, before the sequel was apparently teased in a recent Sony ad.
