Far Cry 6 is by no means the best game in the Far Cry franchise, but it is pretty good fun. In our review, we wrote that the game “checks all of the Far Cry boxes” yet fails to “stray too far from the path.” In other words, if you’re looking for a revision of the franchise, you won’t find it in Far Cry 6 but if you’re up for more of the same, then you’re in luck.
The best thing about Far Cry 6 was undeniably Chorizo the dachshund sausage dog who adorably stomps around after you. Far Cry 6 is worth playing for sweet lil’ Chorizo alone and the good news is that you can play the game for free on Xbox, PlayStation and PC today.
We spoke to Giancarlo Esposito about his role in Far Cry 6. Check out the interview below.
Let’s get down to the details. Far Cry 6 is available for free to all PlayStation owners but if you’re an Xbox fan, you’re going to need an Xbox Gold Live membership to access the freebie on Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S consoles. If PC gaming is more your thing, the game is available to download from Ubisoft Connect or the Epic Games Store.

The deal lasts for one weekend only so you have between 4 and 7 August to get your hands on this free gem. Access to the game is available during the free offer weekend only. Once the offer ends on 7 August, you’ll be required to purchase the game but any progress will be saved and carried over if you do choose to buy it.
If you’re in the UK, the free weekend begins at 7pm for PlayStation and Xbox owners, plus on the Epic Games Store. If you’re looking to get the game on Ubisoft Connect, you can access Far Cry 6 from 5pm today. Unfortunately, Xbox users cannot preload the game but PlayStation and PC owners will be able to do so from 4pm BST so as soon as the game goes live, you can get playing. There’s your weekend plans sorted.
