As mixed as the reception to Game of Thrones’ final season was, it’s fair to say that we were all excited for the premiere of House Of The Dragon. Early reviews likened the show to Thrones’ very best middle seasons and needless to say, our expectations have been met. House Of The Dragon was renewed for a second season after just a handful of episodes and if you’re not Team Black, what are you doing?
This week’s season finale ‘The Black Queen’ brought the show’s first season to a close - just when the so-called ‘Dance of the Dragons’ was really starting to heat up. The bad news is that we’re probably going to have to wait until 2024 for the next season of the show but in the meantime, fans have been casting a yet-to-be-seen role.
Next up on HBO’s roster in their adaptation of The Last of Us. Check out the show’s trailer below.
Fans are keen for king of the nerds Henry Cavill to be cast in the next season of House Of The Dragon. Specifically, fans would like the actor to portray Aegon I Targaryen, more popularly known as Aegon The Conqueror. Whilst the character didn’t appear in season one, you probably heard the fella’s name. Aegon The Conqueror’s Valyrian steel dagger foretells the prophecy of “The prince that was promised,” and “The song of ice and fire.” It’s a prophecy that Viserys passed onto Rhaenyra and later, Alicent believing she was Rhaenyra.

If Cavill was to portray Aegon The Conqueror, it would certainly be via a flashback given the nature of the character but still, this would be pretty cool to see. We know Cavill can pull off a blonde wig thanks to his role as Geralt in The Witcher, which I’m presuming is how this fan casting gained traction. Take a look at some of the fan reactions below.
I mentioned that Cavill was the king of the nerds. There’s the aforementioned role in The Witcher, but Cavill is also obsessed with Warhammer and building PCs. In fact, he recently entertained fans on Instagram with his latest PC build. What a guy.
