We just got a brand new trailer for an upcoming game that looks like a fun mix between Fallout and The Last of Us, with a little bit of Far Cry sprinkled in for good measure.
I’ve had my eye on Forest Reigns for a while now. Although it’s the first game developed and published by VG Entertainment, following their rebranding back in 2023 when they were previously known as Vostok Games, what they’ve shown off so far looks extremely impressive.
To sum up Forest Reigns in a sentence, it’s a survival-focused first person shooter that requires you to use your surroundings to your advantage.

Said surroundings come in the form of an angry forest, which you’ll have to manipulate and alter during combat to take out your enemies.
The developers describe the sentient forest as a “conscious entity with its own desires and intentions”, and seem to be implying that conversing with it on a more literal level might be possible throughout the course of Forest Reigns’ campaign.
Speaking of The Last of Us, HBO's TV adaption drops its second season next month.
Although we have seen snippets of gameplay before now, we finally just got our first proper look at an extended slice of Forest Reigns’ gameplay, courtesy of a “Deep-Dive Gameplay Trailer” from IGN.

There’s a bunch of new little tidbits in this trailer, but there’s a few specific bits of gameplay that really interested me.
Firstly, you can use the angry forest environment to actually traverse the map. Also, it seems you won’t be safe from its wrath when you’re inside buildings either, based on the extended gunfight sequence through a rundown house.
They also show off some new AI-controlled companions too, but simultaneously warn that getting these guys killed will harm your standing with the faction as a whole.
No exact release date for this one yet, but you can wishlist the game on Steam - and the developers have also stated that PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S/X ports are planned once the game releases.
