Fallout 5 growing release window slammed by fans

This is going to be hard to hear, but get used to it

It’s a busy ol’ week for gaming.

Summer Game Fest and PlayStation’s State of Play have brought us a ton of exciting reveals, and then there’s the simple fact that it’s the Nintendo Switch 2’s launch week.

Of course, the fun isn’t over as we’re inching closer to this year’s Xbox Showcase due to be held tomorrow, on Sunday 8 June.

One project I’m imagining fans will be desperate to hear about is Fallout 5.

I’m going to warn you now though, my friends, I think it’s more likely that I’ll see a unicorn in the next 24 hours.

You see, I wouldn’t be surprised if Bethesda surfaced but it’s almost definitely not going to be with regards to Fallout 5.

The studio is hard at work on The Elder Scrolls VI and while I’d even be surprised to see that re-surface, it is the more likely game to get a reveal.

Personally, I think we might hear about Starfield. A PS5 port already previously leaked online and Todd Howard did originally tease a second story expansion.

None of this changes though the fact that Fallout fans are getting tired of waiting for news.

In fact, the fandom recently hit a major milestone that brought that feeling home.

We passed the 10 year anniversary of Fallout 4’s announcement.

Yes, it was in June of 2015 that Fallout 4 was formally revealed to the world, just a few months ahead of its November 2015 release date.

And here we are, a decade on with no mainline follow-up.

“At this rate, I got like two more Fallout games remaining before I die,” wrote Reddit user phobos_664, discussing this realisation.

“Over a decade without a new single-player Fallout is some bulls**t,” added Saint–Jiub.

“I wish we could go back to the days of a game releasing four to five months after the reveal. Dropping a logo with a 15 second wide-shot cinematic and then waiting eight years for gameplay to be shown is starting to piss me off,” wrote Nutshell_92, summing up what many of us are thinking.

Now, we do not know when The Elder Scrolls VI will drop but it’s widely assumed to be somewhere in the 2027 to 2028 region.

That would place Fallout 5 as likely to land in 2030 or beyond. Oof.

This is all mere speculation that could be way off but in all honesty, I’d prepare yourself for a good few more years of waiting.
