It is understandable to feel disappointed when you learn that one of your most anticipated games won’t be released for quite a long time.

However, there is a difference between feeling disappointed and accepting it and taking to social media to send abuse to the game’s developers.

For Fallout 5, that has most certainly been the case with the news that it will be quite a few years until we see the next entry in the much-loved RPG series.

It is no surprise that fans have been more eager for Fallout 5 recently considering the recent success of the hit Prime Video adaptation.

However, with Bethesda hard at work on other projects such as The Elder Scrolls 6, the next entry in the Fallout franchise has taken a back seat.

Now Bethesda Game Studios’ Studio Design Director Emil Pagliarulo has taken to Twitter to share the reasons for the delay.

The conversation happened when one fan asked why titles such as Fallout 5 take such a long time to develop.

Pagliarulo replied: “It's a good question. A complicated question. Not specific to any of our games, but development times can vary for a variety of reasons.

On Starfield, we spent a lot of time updating and developing tech. We also paused for a bit to assist with Fallout 76.

He goes on to explain that the biggest reason is related to the most important resource of all - people.

“As with any dev team, we have talented folks who need time to make great stuff. So we can't do everything at once. Institute scientists are hard at work on cloning initiatives!”

However, fans are still not happy with the massive delay.

“I know games are more expensive and definitely take longer to make, but waiting 10+ years for a sequel when most AAA gaming companies are taking in billions of dollars is extremely silly,” read one comment on r/gamingnews.

Another said: “After Starfield I have absolutely no faith in Bethesda to deliver a good game.”

With a lot of fans to make happy, let us hope Fallout 5 is worth the wait.
