Sometimes video games are just better with friends but with the Fallout series being primarily a single-player RPG, that can be quite difficult. However, thanks to one talented modder, you may just be able to experience the world of Fallout 3 with company.
With Fallout 76 being the exception, Bethesda’s Fallout series is purely a single-player open-world RPG set in a post-nuclear America. Telling the story of our Vault Dwellers as they explore the war-torn lands of places such as the Mojave Wasteland and The Commonwealth, Fallout 3 is no exception.
Check out the Fallout 3 trailer below!
First released back in 2008, Fallout 3 tells the story of one such Vault Dweller who is forced to come to the surface to find their father after he disappears under mysterious circumstances from the Vault. Venturing out into the Capital Wasteland, they must navigate the world of nuclear fallout, facing all manner of beasts, other survivors and more.

However, one downside is that Fallout 3 is a single-player RPG but many have called for the ability to play in multiplayer mode. Luckily for them, one such creator has managed just that by creating the ‘VaultMP’ multiplayer mod over on Nexus Mods.
The mod, which is currently still in development, allows players to explore the wastelands with friends both for Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas.
“The goal is to provide the tools necessary to create engaging online environments in the Fallout games,” reads its synopsis. “It does not impose any limits on what you can do with it (i.e. maximum player count), nor does it have any bias towards any kind of multiplayer game… The community is free (and encouraged) to take VaultMP and develop server-side game modes, composing the actual rules of gameplay.”
VaultMP is free to download and add to your Fallout 3 save so it is time to gather up your friends and dive back into a Bethesda classic.
