With all the hype surrounding the Fallout series right now, it might be easy to forget about Bethesda’s other beloved RPG series, The Elder Scrolls.
To be fair, if you’ve forgotten that the next entry in the beloved fantasy RPG series from Bethesda is on the way, you’d be forgiven. After all, The Elder Scrolls VI was announced at E3 2018 and to this day, we’ve not had a release date, let alone been treated to some gameplay footage.

As for Fallout 5, we know that it is on the way but in terms of when, we’re left more in the dark than The Elder Scrolls VI. Bethesda has acknowledged that Fallout 5 will be developed but it’s not been officially revealed, yet. The assumption is that Fallout 5 will arrive after The Elder Scrolls VI, whenever that time may be.

That being said, with the success of the live-action Fallout series from Amazon Studios, The Elder Scrolls VI fans are concerned with its release date following recent Fallout 5 rumours. Which begs the question, which RPG will Bethesda release next?
“There's a rumour floating around from Jez Corden that the higher-ups [at Microsoft/Bethesda] are looking to expedite the next Fallout game so they can ride its release on the TV show hype. Which I don't fault them for, just look at the impact on the previous games from the TV show,” exclaimed Redditor PalwaJoko.

“It also got me wondering how this is going to affect The Elder Scrolls VI,” they continued. “Seems like the only ways they could expedite a Fallout release is to either take away resources from The Elder Scrolls VI to prioritise Fallout 5 or they have to get another studio to develop Fallout 5 while Bethesda is working on the finishing touches of Starfield and building The Elder Scrolls VI.”
“Todd Howard would rather poison himself than let The Elder Scrolls VI get delayed any longer and face the backlash, so I doubt it,” claimed a drastic kokoisannoying. “I don’t care who makes Fallout 5, as long as they don’t delay The Elder Scrolls VI,” replied logicality77.
“I would love it if Bethesda let other studios do spin-off games of their main series. Obsidian Entertainment did a great job with Fallout: New Vegas and had Tim Cain as a contractor, how great would it be to go full circle and have some of the people who created the original Fallout work on another one before Bethesda's cycle rears around to Fallout again,” suggests Bloodmime.
“I'd actually start hating Bethesda if they do that and it affects The Elder Scrolls VI production negatively,” said a potentially displeased Birdzinho.

“Ironically, I think pushing out Fallout 5 sooner is going to be a bad move due to Fallout fatigue,” said Colley619. “Everyone is playing and buying older Fallout games right now, people want The Elder Scrolls VI.”
Hopefully, Bethesda will put us all out of our misery soon and give us an inkling as to when The Elder Scrolls VI and Fallout 5 will be released. That being said, don’t be surprised if both titles end up being next-gen releases.
