The waiting doesn’t get any easier, does it? If you’re a fan of Bethesda, chances are you're desperate to know when you might be able to get your hands on The Elder Scrolls VI.
Officially, of course, there is no answer, but it’s hard to speculate over too. While Starfield may now be out in the world, it remains a key focus at Bethesda. Yesterday’s Xbox podcast confirmed it’s not releasing on PlayStation 5, but we are still waiting on the Shattered Space expansion which is set to launch on Xbox and PC later this year. Developers are also working on several community requested features including the addition of city maps. This means that while work has begun on The Elder Scrolls VI, it’s not exactly all hands on deck just yet.
Take a look at The Elder Scrolls VI’s original reveal trailer below.
While The Elder Scrolls VI may not yet be Bethesda’s key focus, it has now been in development (as opposed to pre-production) for around six months, as pointed out by Reddit user EvenAH27, offering us a glimpse of hope. “In about a month, TES:VI has been in development for half a year,” they wrote.

“Crazy how fast time flies by. This was detailed in numerous articles in the end of August/start of September. Granted, it's early development, but early development on top of five to six years of solid pre-production. With the Creation Engine 2 being done as well, things are probably moving and happening quite rapidly! Exciting.” It is very exciting, although we should all temper our expectations. I would be pretty surprised if the game landed in the next four years. I’d imagine it’s quite a way off yet - and we know Bethesda developers like to take their time, as they should.
It felt as if we waited forever for Starfield and yet even that could’ve perhaps done with a tiny bit more time in the proverbial oven. “Although it's probably still far away, I can't wait to see more! I'm excited to see where we're going, what culture we'll delve into, what factions we can join,” wrote an excited Crystlazar, while elderscrolls1993 added, “I truly believe the wait will pay off once we finally see the game. I can sense the excitement from all those involved.” All good things come to those who wait, as they say.
