Who knows what has to happen in a person’s mind to want to kill the sweetest and most harmless of NPCs. Perhaps they want to give themselves over to darkness, maybe they feel like they need to conquer all.
In Elden Ring, much like other Soulslike titles, players have the option to kill pretty much everyone. It doesn’t mean they should, but give them the choice and chaos will ensue. One player made it their mission to kill Boc, probably the nicest NPC in The Lands Between and one who simply minds their own business. That’s right, they headed out on their horse, Torrent, and decided to chose chaos and murder poor Boc.
Elden Ring is soon to expand in the DLC, Shadow of the Erdtree
And it’s horrible. There’s Boc, hiding in a bush in Limgrave, asking for help from passersby when a player swipes at him with a sword. “What did you do that for?” asks poor Boc as he’s assaulted with more sword strikes. His cries of “Ow” and “Oh, now you too, is it?” ring out among the metal clanging off his body. Boc has always had a hard life and it’s about to end in a brutal way.

The players is relentless, Boc tries to put up a fight with his dagger, stabbing back, but he succumbs to his injuries and crumples into a pile in the grass. His last words are simply “Mum… I… I’ve let you down.” And there ends the life of Boc, The Seamster.
The player walks away with no item, just the echoes of the pain in Boc’s voice. Everyone is a casualty on the path to Elden Lord, but did we need this senseless violence? Boc is survived by only his mother who weeps for her child callously killed while living a simple life, his legacy lives on in the hearts of players to come. Sleep easy poor Boc, Rest in Peace.
