Elden Ring, the hotly anticipated collaboration between FromSoftware and George RR Martin, came out in February. Already, it's ubiquitous. This was to be expected; the Souls games are among the most popular of all time, especially with gamers who like a challenge. Martin's works are also, we suppose, pretty huge.
Despite the cultural conquest it's made in 2022, it's still only half a year old. This makes it a surprise that FromSoftware are already on the finishing touches for their next game. A nice surprise, but a surprise nonetheless.

Hidetaka Miyazaki is the mastermind behind not only Elden Ring, but the entire Dark Souls series, Bloodborne, and Sekiro. In an interview with 4Gamer (via VCG), he said that an unannounced game was "in the final stages of development."

Unfortunately, he didn't want to elaborate. He said: “It’s not the right time to talk about them in detail, but I think they are both games that are typical of us. It will take a little more time, but I think we will be able to tell you about them one by one as they take shape.”
Although one project is in the final stages, he also revealed that there is another title in the works too. Since 2018, there have been "3.5 lines that have been in the works." We know now that Elden Ring was one, and the "0.5" was the PlayStation VR tittle Déraciné.
That would leave two unannounced titles, one of which is apparently in the final stages. If you, like we, are a fan of the challenge and environmental storytelling of Soulslikes, then it's almost time to take a deep and focused breath once again.
