Elden Ring update quietly makes the game much easier for all of us

Things just got a lot easier

Since Shadow of the Erdtree was released last month, discourse soon arose over the difficulty spike in the long-awaited DLC.

With some players complaining that the bosses had become too difficult to even be fun, FromSoftware soon stepped in to make things a bit easier.

Check out the launch trailer for Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree below!

Now it seems as though that trend is continuing thanks to a recent Elden Ring patch that aims to make the game a lot more accessible to less-experienced players.

Version 1.13 has been rolled out for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and Steam.

Its official patch notes reveal just how much has been updated following the Shadow of the Erdtree update so let’s summarise some of the new improvements.

Alongside 40 bug fixes and general quality-of-life improvements, Version 1.13 also improves the use of Ashes, incantations, skills, spells and armaments which can all help against the game’s formidable bosses.

Summoned NPCs such as Needle Knight Leda, Pureblood Knight Ansbach and Thiollier will now have increased stats and summoned spirits such as the Mimic Tear will have increased attack power and damage negation.

Armaments such as the Repeating Crossbow, Spread Crossbow, Rabbath's Cannon now have increased attack power scaling and many other weapons have seen increases in damage and strength.

Skills such as Savage Lion’s Claw and Swift Slash have also had an overhaul as well as spells such as Glintblade Trio and Blades of Stone.

Alongside a bunch of scaling improvements, there are also some highly-requested bug fixes such as players no longer needing to select ‘OK’ or ‘CANCEL’ when using the Spectral Steed Whistle while the steed is dead.

All of these fixes will make Elden Ring and its Shadow of the Erdtree DLC a whole lot easier so if you struggled upon release, it is definitely worth trying again.
