Oh lawd, it’s finally happening. Over 10 years from the original game’s release, Capcom have officially confirmed that Dragon’s Dogma 2 is in the works. Players rejoice.
As reported by GameSpot, the news was revealed last night during the Dragon’s Dogma 10th Anniversary stream, and let’s face it, we knew something was going to be revealed, right? Director Hideaki Itsuno kept us waiting until the end of the celebration to drop the announcement, and needless to say, fans are very excited.
Take a look at the trailer for the most recent Dragon's Dogma game, the Dark Arisen Nintendo Switch port, below.
Unfortunately, there’s no actual trailer to be seen - you’ll get a logo and you’ll like it, okay? All we know about the game right now is that it’s in development, and will run on the RE Engine (which isn’t overly surprising, but it does potentially confirm some insider claims from last year). Other than that, Capcom have said the devs are “are excited to share more details in the future”.

Last month, fans were heavily speculating whether or not Capcom could be teasing a sequel, since they seemed to be making a suspiciously big deal of the first game’s 10th anniversary. Well, to be fair, they weren’t doing much (prior to the stream, that is), but making an entire celebratory website for one singular standalone game? At the time, there was absolutely nothing to see on the site that actually pointed to another game being in the works, but it was enough to raise a few eyebrows, and clearly, the ever hopeful among us were right. Not very often that you get to say that when it comes to game announcements like this, really, so bravo.
There’s been no release window given for the sequel, so there’s a good chance that it’ll be a long while off yet. We also have no idea about what platforms it could release on - the original came out on the Xbox 360 and PS3, with the enhanced Dark Arisen version hitting PC, PS4, Xbox One, and later, Nintendo Switch. So, all bases were covered (eventually). Whether or not this trend continues with the highly-anticipated sequel is another matter - we’ll just have to watch this space.
